Jess and Alex chose the Japanese Garden at the Brisbane Botanic Gardens Mt Coot-tha for their pre-wedding session. With its winding paths, bamboo groves, and still lily ponds, it’s the sort of place that feels calm and a bit hidden away from the city. The red dress Jess wore popped against all the green, and the gardens gave us space to wander and take it slow.
The session felt easy from the start. Jess and Alex laughed together, leaned into the playful moments, and didn’t mind getting a little silly, whether that meant dancing by the pond or framing each other in a photo prop. There were quieter times too, like when they paused by the water or under the archways, just taking in the moment together. The bamboo grove and lily ponds nearby gave us a few peaceful corners to work in, and the sunlight through the trees added a bit of extra warmth.
Jess and Alex have a way of making each other smile, and that came through in every photo. They were just themselves, relaxed and at home with each other, which is exactly what a pre-wedding session is about.
Having this time together before the wedding day helps couples feel more comfortable in front of the camera. It’s a chance to get used to being photographed, to find what feels natural, and to build a bit of confidence before the big day arrives.
